Clinics and Services Well Baby and Child Health Clinic This clinic is held every Wednesday between 2.00 and 4.00pm. The health visitor is on hand to give advice and to monitor the growth and development of babies and pre-school children; no appointment is necessary. When immunisations or development checks are due, parents will be notified either by post or by the health visitor. Medical records are kept by parents in the 'red book'. Please bring this book to the clinic when you come. Dr Stewart, together with the practice nurse, will also carry out child health checks during Friday morning surgeries; an appointment must be booked in advance. Childhood Immunisation Clinics Clinics are by appointment only. Antenatal Clinic The midwife, Dr Heaf and Dr Stewart hold antenatal clinics every Tuesday afternoon. Dr Luckhurst carries out antenatal care during her normal surgery hours. Please contact reception to arrange appointments for the antenatal clinic. Diabetic Clinic The doctors see patients with diabetes during their normal surgery hours. COPD (Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease) A nurse-run clinic is held on Wednesday mornings; appointments are available by referral from your GP. Diabetes/CHD(Chronic Heart Disease)/Smoking Cessation Clinic A nurse-run clinic is held on Thursday mornings; please ask at reception for details of this clinic. Physiotherapist A physiotherapist from the Nuffield Orthopaedic Centre holds a clinic at the surgery twice a week. Appointments are available by referral from your GP. Minor Surgery The doctors perform certain minor operations at the medical centre without the need to attend hospital. These include the removal of cysts, skin tags, in-growing toenails and suturing. Joint and soft tissue injections are also carried out. You should consult with your GP before booking into a minor surgery clinic. Family Planning Contraceptive services are available from all the doctors and the nurses. Cap and coil fittings are done by a female doctor and a family planning trained nurse. Consultations with your partner are welcome where the full aspects of contraception and family planning can be discussed. We also provide emergency contraception (the morning after pill). Additional Services - Medicals Dr Stubbings and Dr Wallace will carry out medicals for insurance or other purposes. A fee is charged for such medicals. Please ask at reception for a list of current fees. |
